About BRINC:

At BRINC, we are redefining public safety with an innovative ecosystem of life-saving tools. Our journey started with the development of drones and ruggedized throw phones, designed to access unsafe areas and establish communication to de-escalate situations. Today, we've expanded into creating and deploying 911 response networks, where drones are dispatched to 911 calls to provide real-time visual data, enhancing safety and enabling de-escalation-focused responses. Our cutting-edge solutions are utilized by over 600 public safety agencies across America and the company has raised over $150M from investors, including Index Ventures, Motorola Solutions, Sam Altman, Dylan Field, Mike Volpe, Alexandr Wang and more. At BRINC, we are committed to recruiting the world's best talent to join us in our mission to support first responders in saving lives.

About this Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer. This role is embedded with our software engineering organization and is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting our network infrastructure to ensure high availability and security across all our internal and externally deployed systems. This role works on both internal IT infrastructure and customer facing network infrastructure as part of our Drone as First Responder (DFR) installations. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the stability, integrity, and efficiency of our network operations, while also contributing to strategic initiatives that enhance our connectivity and scalability as our company, product portfolio, and installation footprint grows. Engineering roles at BRINC require a high level of ownership and initiative, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and solve complex, undefined problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network performance and integrity using a combination of tools and best practices

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and other network/system issues

  • Maintain and update documentation for network configurations and procedures

  • Implement security measures, including firewalls, encryption, and access controls

  • Coordinate with customer support teams during customer facing infrastructure installations, upgrades, and support

  • Conduct network performance tuning and capacity planning

  • Support disaster recovery and backup systems related to network operations

  • Participate in on-call rotation for incident response and urgent troubleshooting

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a network engineering role, or 5+ years of experience without a bachelor’s degree

  • Proficiency in configuring network equipment from a variety of vendors/suppliers (Cisco, Juniper, Mikotik)

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies (VLANs, STP)

  • Experience with firewalls and security systems

  • Solid understanding of network monitoring tools and diagnostic utilities

  • Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS VPCs and Transit Gateways, Azure, GCP)

  • Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash) for automation of network tasks

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in a network engineering role

  • CCNP or JNCIS‑ENT certification

  • Experience with cellular networking technologies (e.g., LTE, 5G, SIM provisioning, carrier integration)

  • Deep understanding of complex VPN architectures, including site-to-site, client-based, and multi-hop configurations

  • Familiarity with Quality of Service (QoS) implementation and traffic prioritization strategies

  • Hands-on experience with advanced routing and failover techniques

  • Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies and deployment methodologies

  • Understanding of wireless networking principles, including spectrum management and roaming optimization

  • Hands‑on experience with network security fundamentals, including segmentation (zoning), ACL design, and adversarial testing (red‑team exercises).
