Qualifications

We believe that energy, curiosity, and the desire to learn are the most important qualifications. We are committed to developing our team members on the job and fostering a culture of continuous learning and building.

  • Experience: Some experience (1-3 years preferred) in commercial underwriting, credit analysis, or financial modeling—specifically with medium and large companies—is required.

  • Mindset: A strong demonstration of curiosity to learn, innovate, and build new capabilities is paramount. You must be an energetic, proactive problem-solver.

  • Technical Aptitude: Must have proficiency in financial analysis and Excel / Sheets. Experience with, or a strong desire to learn, data analysis tools and languages (SQL, Python, R) is highly valued.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

I. Core Credit & Portfolio Management (The Analyst)

  • Corporate Credit Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analysis of medium and large corporate entities, reviewing financial statements, operational performance, and market position to accurately assess creditworthiness and risk.

  • Customer Engagement: Actively meet with and discuss the business and strategic plans of prospective and current customers, performing essential qualitative and quantitative due diligence.

  • Portfolio Oversight: Manage the pipeline of credit reviews and own a dedicated portfolio of customers, continuously monitoring their performance and financial results to proactively ensure credit quality.

  • Decision Presentation: Regularly present your analysis, credit recommendations, and risk assessments to the Credit Committee and Executive Team.

II. Innovation & Development (The Builder)

  • Process Automation: Develop new approaches to underwriting by leveraging technology (LLMs, AI toolkit) to build workflows and automate routine financial analysis.

  • Data Extraction & Insight: Explore novel approaches to extract and analyze information from financial statements and other data sources to eliminate manual, tedious tasks, creating more time to understand customers deeply.

  • Tool Development: Develop robust portfolio analysis tools to estimate the overall credit quality, concentration risk, and performance of your portfolio, and effectively present the results.

III. Data & Technology (The Data User)

  • Data Proficiency: You are comfortable working with large data sets. Spreadsheet proficiency (Excel) is essential, and demonstrated experience or a keen interest in coding (SQL, Python, or R) is a significant plus.

  • Business Intelligence: Use data analysis to unlock critical insights that inform and drive strategic business decisions related to lending and risk appetite.
